U.S. Army National Guard Spc. Terry Mills, 51, joined the National Guard four years ago, along with his wife, Carol. Both were 47. The retired firefighter wasn't done giving back to his community, and now serves on Forward Operating Base Salerno as a crew chief with Valkyrie Medevac, a joint Mississippi-Texas National Guard unit supporting the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. "There's a lot of people that have said things about us coming back, that we're crazy, that we've lost our minds, that we must be really bored," said Mills. "There's been a lot of comments about it, but most have been very positive- it makes me prouder to have done this."
