U.S. Army Spc. Terry Mills, of Brandon, Miss., steadies a hoist cable dangling far below a UH-60 medevac helicopter during hoist training on Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan, July 4. Later that day, the Valkyrie medevac crew, which supports the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade across Regional Command-East put their training into effect later that day during a combat hoist rescure while under fire. "It was awesome," said Mills. We showed and we proved that we can do what we told the brigade we could do. We had a good team up there, and good backup in the other aircraft."
