Monument dedicated to Molly Pitcher at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, located at Manalapan, N.J., July 7, 2021. Molly Pitcher’s story is generally attributed to Mary Hays, whose husband, William, was an artilleryman with the 4th Continental Artillery Regiment during the American Revolutionary War. During the Battle of Monmouth June 28, 1778, she served as a cannon crew member. The Park was dedicated June 28, 1978, the battle’s bicentennial.
