A youth from Al Kush, Iraq, a village approximately 50 km from Mosul, hits a baseball from a tee during a baseball game July 29. Soldiers from the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion, an Army Reserve unit from Norristown, Pa., are teaching a group of Iraqi children from Al Kush, Iraq, to play baseball. Children from the Al Kush athletic club expressed an interest in learning the sport, which most have only seen on television. Soldiers gave a general explanation of the rules of baseball and instruction on basic skills such as throwing and catching and hitting. The 416th Youth Soccer and Sports committee is promoting youth sports in the rural areas of northern Iraq by working with local coaches and youth to provide equipment and training. (Photo by Spc.
