220415-N-TH560-0208 SASEBO, Japan (April 15, 2022) - Operations Specialist Seaman Joshua Dilone, from Bronx, New York, holds up a photo of his brother, Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Richard Dilone. Joshua Dilone enlisted in the Navy as part of the Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (PACT) program and earned the Operations Specialist rating during a Navy Personnel Command (NPC) Fleet Engagement Team event onboard Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo, April 14, 2022. Because of the event, detailers were able to work-on-one with Dilone to give him duty station orders to the same command as his brother, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111).
“It feels pretty cool following in his footsteps, because he’s the older brother,” Dilone said. “It’s nice to know that he got the rate that he wanted and I was also able to get the rate that I wanted.”
The Fleet Engagement Team, consisting of enlisted community managers, rating specialists and detailers from NPC, worked one-on-one with PACT Sailors in Japan to provide career counseling, designate ratings and negotiate orders on site.
