U.S. Navy Adm. Robert Burke, commander of Allied Joint Force Command Naples; U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Matthew Van Wagenen, V Corps deputy commanding general of maneuver; Bulgarian Lt. Gen. Dimitar Lliev, deputy chief of defense, Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria, observe a dynamic display, on April 19, 2022, Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria. V Corps, America's Forward Deployed Corps in Europe, works alongside NATO Allies and regional security partners, like Bulgaria, to provide combat-ready forces, execute joint and multinational training exercises, and retain command and control for all rotational and assigned units in the European theater. The U.S. continually supports our Bulgarian ally through engagements such as bilateral exchanges to improve partnership interoperability. NSTA is a training facility operated by Area Support Group-Black Sea and hosts United States military personnel as part of the ongoing bilateral defense cooperation with Bulgaria under the terms of the 2006 U.S.-Bulgaria Defense Cooperation Agreement.
