U.S. Army Capt. Michael Ryan, commander of Eagle Troop, 2 nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, delivers a report on the static display presented to U.S. Navy Adm. Dimitar Lliev, deputy chief of defense, Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria, on April 19, 2022 at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria. 2 nd Cavalry Regiment is a part of V Corps, America's Forward Deployed Corps in Europe–works alongside NATO Allies and regional security partners, like Bulgaria, to provide combat-ready forces, execute joint and multinational training exercises, and retain command and control for all rotational and assigned units in the European theater. NSTA is a training facility operated by Area Support Group-Black Sea and hosts U.S. military personnel as part of the ongoing bilateral defense cooperation with Bulgaria under the terms of the 2006 U.S. Defense Cooperation Agreement.
