Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Hjelmstad, senior enlisted leader of the Iowa National Guard, visits students competing for the Waterloo Career Center during Iowa State University’s first international cyber competition on May 18, 2022. The Iowa Air National Guard’s 168th Cyberspace Operations Squadron partnered with the Kosovo Security Force and invited several educational institutions throughout Kosovo to participate virtually. ISU has hosted regular cyber competitions since 2005 to allow Iowa students across the state to test their knowledge under stress.
