Chefs from various military branches attending the Joint Culinary Training Exercise prepare their cooking stations inside the MacLaughlin Fitness Center at Fort Lee, Virginia, March 6, 2023. In this event, the competing chefs were given ingredients and required to cook several meal courses within specified nutritional guidelines, such as calories, taste, and the correct ratio of macronutrients. The 47th annual JCTE is the largest military culinary competition in North America and is designed to promote growth in the profession and provide an opportunity for military chefs to raise culinary excellence.
