Pfc. Ashley Dusack, water treatment specialist, 401st Quartermaster Detachment, Lock Haven, Pa., uses a shovel found in a debris pile to push water out of a backyard Nov. 13 in Breezy Point, N.Y. The soldiers utilized anything they could find to channel water out of a residential area severely effected as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The soldiers are removing water in direct support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state and local officials as a result of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. The 410th, 431st and 401st Quartermaster Detachments, all Army Reserve water purification detachments, are deployed to pump the water out of areas most affected by the storm.
