Instructors and staff of the Aviation Survival Training Institute (ASTC) Pensacola conduct a situational safety talk to discuss methods to handle students and conduct training safely for a live flare fire demonstration of the Mk 79 and MK 124 flares, June 22. Periodically personnel must undergo live refresher training to ensure proper deployment and use of their survival equipment. With a student throughput exceeding 14,000 students annually the staff and instructors at NSTI also undergo training to ensure they are using the proper techniques to train students that pass through the Aviation Survival Training Centers (ASTC) and out to the Fleet.
