Presenters from the Defense Health Agency’s Medical Simulation and Training Program Management Office show visitors how practitioners can use advanced human and canine simulation systems to hone their skill sets and gain confidence at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring, Maryland during the July 29, 2023, Military Medical Innovation: The Future is Here event.
DHA’s MST presenters display canine and human patient simulation systems to discuss the improving technology in simulation training. While it’s not quite possible to replicate the body in all its performance responses and physiology, MST develops the highest technology that simulates a specific purpose.
Different manikins have different training tasks based on their environment and the type of medicine associated with the simulated injury, for instance, a battlefield manikin under combat conditions or a hospital under surgical conditions. These manikins demonstrate several wounds under a combat situation, like amputations, projectile injuries, blocked airways, and collapsed lungs.
