Dr. Ravi Chaudhary, assistant secretary of the Air Force for energy, installations and environment, presents a challenge coin to Tech. Sgt. Cliff Prince, a member of the civil engineer team at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Alpena, Michigan, Aug. 10, 2023. The base civil engineer cell provided details on plans for a new 5th generation fighter hangar to be built at the base. Chaudhary visited several locations around the state during the visit, hearing details about agile combat employment operations and locations in the state as well as several innovative projects being developed by the Kelly Johnson Joint All-Domain Innovation Center, a Michigan National Guard program is building partnerships between industry, DoD research agencies and academia. The visit took place during Exercise Northern Strike 2023, a premier reserve component training event that integrates both U.S. and partner nation readiness training to build interoperability and strengthen partnerships in an all-domain environment.
