The Michigan Air National Guard has been utilizing the airport and other locations around the state to exercise their ability to perform agile combat employment operations at remote locations. Over the past two years, the Michigan Air National Guard has conducted several highway landings with A-10 Thunderbolts II and at various small airports with KC-135 Stratotankers. Chaudhary visited several locations around the state during the visit, hearing details about agile combat employment operations and locations in the state as well as several innovative projects being developed by the Kelly Johnson Joint All-Domain Innovation Center, a Michigan National Guard program is building partnerships between industry, DoD research agencies and academia. The visit took place during Exercise Northern Strike 2023, a premier reserve component training event that integrates both U.S. and partner nation readiness training to build interoperability and strengthen partnerships in an all-domain environment.
