Dr. Ravi Chaudhary, assistant secretary of the Air Force for energy, installations and environment, wears a virtual reality headset during a briefing at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Alpena, Michigan, Aug. 10, 2023. Michigan Air National Guard medical teams are using the headset which allows them to assess a patient and, if needed, share the images they may be seeing in the field with a doctor who may be offsite. Chaudhary visited several locations around the state during the visit, hearing details about agile combat employment operations and locations in the state as well as several innovative projects being developed by the Kelly Johnson Joint All-Domain Innovation Center, a Michigan National Guard program is building partnerships between industry, DoD research agencies and academia. The visit took place during Exercise Northern Strike 2023, a premier reserve component training event that integrates both U.S. and partner nation readiness training to build interoperability and strengthen partnerships in an all-domain environment.
