U.S. Army Spc. Jose Vega-Silva, a network communications specialist assigned to the Signal, Intelligence and Sustainment Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, poses for a portrait on Fort Riley, Kansas, Sep. 14, 2023. Vega-Silva, who is currently preparing to become a noncommissioned officer, was reassigned to Joint Base Lewis-McCord and will continue to serve in the U.S. Army in his hometown of Yakima, Washington.
“Wearing the United States Army uniform means a lot to me,” said Vega-Silva. “I am honored. I am proud. I never thought I’d ever be in this organization. I am honestly blessed because this organization has provided me with a lot of opportunities to succeed and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have met a lot of great people so, I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world at all.”
