U.S. Army Spc. Jose Vega-Silva, a network communications specialist assigned to the Signal, Intelligence and Sustainment Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, poses for a portrait on Fort Riley, Kansas, Sep. 14, 2023. Vega-Silva, who is currently preparing to become a noncommissioned officer, was reassigned to Joint Base Lewis-McCord and will continue to serve in the U.S. Army in his hometown of Yakima, Washington.
“I just can’t wait to see my family,” said Vega-Silva. “The last time I saw them was in July for two weeks but, I just can’t wait to be with them full-time. They’re going to be a few hours away and that’s all I want.”
