This photograph from 1951 shows the radio section of the Fort McCoy Public Information Office (PIO) producing a tape-recording of hometown interest. Such recordings primarily consist of interviews with Soldiers. Tape recordings also are made of many other ceremonies and social activities on the post, which are given hometown release if believed to be of interest. It was the goal of the hometown news section of the PIO at Camp McCoy to have a picture and story of each Soldier on the post published in his hometown newspaper. A 3x5 glossy print photograph of each man was given to the PIO by a commercial studio. Story material was added by PIO, together with a letter to next of kin designated by the Soldier, explaining how these may be published in the local newspaper. (U.S. Army Historical Photo)
