This #FortRileyFriday we continue our look at facilities built to support activities centered around the old Artillery Post.
401 Holbrook Avenue was completed in 1940 as a garage for building 400, aka Randolph Hall, a 10-unit apartment building on the west edge of Artillery Parade Field.
It was constructed with #limestone walls, a concrete foundation, crushed rock floor and a slate roof.
Building 401 was one of 18 garages built around Main Post in 1940, after many were constructed the previous year, reflecting the increased popularity of the automobile.
As it did in 1940, 401 Holbrook continues to serve today as a garage for the residents of Randolph Hall.
