U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC), Marines swim from one end of a pool to another during water survival training at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii, Feb. 27, 2024. MARFORPAC Marine Corps Instructors of Water Survival (MCIWS) trained Marines from units around the island, including the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, through basic and intermediate swim qualifications to fulfill their swim qualification requirements during this multiple-hour exercise. The course is designed to train Marines in water survival through intense aquatic training events such as victim rescues, distance swims, and underwater endurance exercises.
