U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC) Marines perform an emergency flotation technique utilizing their uniforms during water survival training at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii, Feb. 27, 2024. MARFORPAC Marine Corps Instructors of Water Survival (MCIWS) trained Marines from units around the island, including the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, through basic and intermediate swim qualifications to fulfill their swim qualification requirements during this multiple-hour exercise. Marines must be able to understand and apply flotation techniques to demonstrate their survivability in an aquatic environment.
