A Polish pipes and drums group performs for attendees of the 80th anniversary of the Great Escape community event at the Stalag Luft III prisoner of war museum in Zagan, Poland, March 23, 2024. The event included displays of modern and historic U.S. Army tanks and aircraft alongside Polish military vehicles and equipment for event attendees to explore. Attendees witnessed the commemoration of the airmen’s daring escape through Tunnel Harry and the deaths of those prisoners that were recaptured by the Nazi forces. The 3rd Infantry Division’s mission in Europe is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, working alongside NATO Allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces to V Corps, America’s forward deployed corps in Europe.
