Military aircraft from several eras were on display at The Great Texas Airshow April 07, 2024, at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Static displays give the community the opportunity to see inside some of the Air Force’s most impactful assets and talk to the service members who use and maintain them. Pictured is the missile turret from an AH-1 Cobra. The AH-1 is a dedicated attack helicopter, and came equipped with stub wings for various weapons, a chin-mounted gun turret, and an armored tandem cockpit, from which it was operated by a pilot and gunner. For several decades, the AH-1 formed the core of the US Army's attack helicopter fleet, seeing combat in Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, and the Gulf War. (U.S. Air Force photo by Brian G. Rhodes)
