SILVERDALE, Wash. (March 26, 2024) - Volunteers from Strategic Weapons Facility-Pacific mentor students during the Ridgetop Middle School Spring Rocket Launch event. Students in the Introduction to Engineering class at Ridgetop Middle School count down and successfully launch a rocket that they built during the last week of class. Students are given the opportunity to not only build their own rocket but connect to the launch pads and fire them, many remarked it was a “blast!” SWPFAC volunteers also partner with local schools to teach other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics learning activities throughout the year. SWPFAC is the command dedicated to assembling, maintaining, and storing TRIDENT II D5 Missiles and deploying them on fleet ballistic missile submarines. We are devoted to serving our nation by providing safe, secure, credible, and affordable sea-based missile systems. (U.S. Navy Photo by Chani Wenning/Released)
