U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Jennifer Condor, from Wiliamsburg, Va., jumps on top of a camel at Camp As Sayliyah on, April 10. "I had seen them in Qatar before but never this close," said Condor. "In the States, I have seen them in the zoo but I have never been able to touch or ride one. I have taken lessons to ride horses but camels definitely stand up differently - they kneel down and do the work for you!" U.S. troops discovered a deeper understanding of Arab-Islamic life in the Middle East during a two-day cultural event on, April 10 and 11. Qatar International Adventures supplied most of the Arabic atmosphere and educational experience, to include camels, falcons, tents, clothing, beverages, food and henna body art. Local nationals provided explanations and guidance into their time-honored traditions.
