U.S. Army Col. (ret.) The three are the parents of Soldiers killed in action during the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team's 2008-2009 deployment to Afghanistan. U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Kevin Grieco was killed in action on Oct. 27, 2008, in Baghlan, Afghanistan. Sgt. Joshua Harris was killed in action on Sept. 17, 2008, in Gerdia Seria, Afghanistan. The battalion's Gold Star Families attend the ball each year as a way to stay connected to their fallen hero's unit and to celebrate the unit's accomplishments.
