YIGO, Guam (Jan. 21, 2024) - Construction workers hold guide ropes as the operator lifts a ten-ton precast concrete slab during a crane load test in January.
Cranes are among the most potentially lethal pieces of equipment on a construction site. More than twenty cranes are in operation on the site of Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz on a daily basis.
The Office in Charge of Construction (OICC) Marine Corps Marianas is responsible for ensuring that each crane and crew undergo load testing before using a crane for regular project work.
