A Connecticut Air National Guard airman displays the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 103rd Airlift Wing on their Operational Camouflage Pattern Utility Uniform during a deployment ceremony at Bradley Air National Guard Base, East Granby, Connecticut, March 1, 2025. This insignia was first approved on May 1, 1953. Depicted in the center is Connecticut Militia Captain Joseph Wadsworth, safeguarding the Royal Charter of 1662, also known as the Connecticut Charter, a document which gave the Connecticut Colony the authority to self govern, from Governor Edmund Andros, who was attempting to seize the document on orders from King James II of England. Above Wadsworth is a sequence of Morse code which translates to the letters "F-E-A". This stands for Fidelis Et Alertus or Faithful and Alert, the motto of the Connecticut Air National Guard, in Latin. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Matthew Lucibello)
