Two eight-blade NP2000 engines are affixed to the right wing of the 103rd Airlift Wing’s Centennial Heritage C-130H Hercules transport aircraft at Bradley Air National Guard Base, East Granby, Connecticut, March 1, 2025. The engines, which are manufactured by Collins Aerospace in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, feature individually detachable props and are more efficient than older four-bladed engines, cutting down maintenance times and costs as well as giving increased thrust which will allow the aircraft to take off from shorter, unimproved runways commonly found in austere environments.
