The Capas National Shrine in Barangay Navy Capas, Tarlac, was erected by the Philippine government as a lasting memorial to honor the Filipino and American soldiers who died at Camp O'Donnell at the end of the Bataan death march. The memorial features a needle-like tower consisting of three sections symbolizing the Filipino, American and Japanese people. The obelisk" is the focal center of the entire shrine site which stands for peace. A regulatory signal atop the structure beacons, symbolizing the height of nationalistic aspiration of Filipinos towards peace and freedom. (U.S. Air Force photo Tech. Sgt. Jerome S. Tayborn)
