A sign at the Capas National Shrine reads, "The planting of 31,000 trees is dedicated to the Filipino and American soldiers who were incarcerated and died in the Concentrations Camp (National Shrine Area) during World War II. It also serves to promote environmental consciousness in the preservations or trees. The shrine was erected to show reverence to those WWII soldiers, who were a part of the Bataan death march and to stand as a public awareness and education in the Tarlac Province."
