The etched name of late U.S. Army major and Filipino-American, Pedro Untalan, a Bataan death march survivor, is listed on the wall of the Capas National Shrine, Capas, Tarlac Province, Philippines. Untalan is the late great-grandfather of U.S. Army Sgt. Jesse Untalan, a video broadcaster California native, U.S. Pacific Army Command, and Balikatan 2013 participant. BK13 is an annual military exercise in the Philippines focused on interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. in build military-to-military relations and cooperation. Sgt. Untalan received a rare opportunity to return to his homeland after 29 years to honor his great-grandfather's sacrifice during the Bataan death march, which took place April 9-15, 1942.
