Sgt. Jared Brown, a cavalry scout with Scout Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarters Co., 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division and a Jersey Shore, Pa. native, searches a field of tall grass for any sign of movement after a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) was fired at his platoon's position near Route Pluto in northeastern Baghdad August 6. Brown's platoon was providing security for a group of Iraqi National Guardsmen (ING) while they searched a nearby mosque suspected of hoarding illegal weapons and other contraband. Although none were found, a slew of insurgent propaganda was discovered and handed over to the ING soldiers by the very cooperative Iraqis present inside the mosque when the raid occurred.
