Recruits of Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, spread out on the battalion’s physical training field during their introduction to the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program class Feb. 11, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The recruits learned standard procedures, including how to position themselves on the field for practicing martial arts. In future sessions, recruits will learn offensive and defensive techniques and build their moral character through ethics-based discussions. The program fuses hand-to-hand combat skills with character development, yielding a strong, mentally sound Marine warrior. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate May 2, 2014. (Photo by Cpl.
