SAN DIEGO (April 8, 2015) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Joseph Buddle, from Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), shines the ship’s bell on the flight deck as it transits the San Diego Bay. Essex is underway participating in a certification exercise (CERTEX) with the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), which is comprised of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) THREE and 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).
