SAN DIEGO (July 29, 2015) – Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class inspects and restores potable water valve to ensure proper working condition aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). America is currently undergoing a Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) in which the ship’s crew and contractors make repairs and improvements to the ship’s design. Every new ship conducts a PSA that is designed to harness results of a thorough test and evaluation period and pave the way to operational employment.
