U.S. Army 'Golden Knights' Lt. Col. Matthew Weinrich, left, U.S. Army Parachute Team Commander and Arlington Heights native, meets Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes during a “Golden Knights” Tandem Camp held in Ottawa, Ill., Aug. 12.
Hayes, a retired Army Reserve lieutenant colonel, was there along with 13 other participants participating in a tandem jump with the 'Golden Knights'. Participants jumped from a height of 13,000 feet at Sky Dive Chicago. The 'Golden Knights', based at Fort Bragg, N.C., offered local Chicago land educators, media, and government officials the opportunity to experience jumping from a plane, rushing 2.5 miles to the ground at 120 miles per hour. 'Golden Knights' Tandem Team will accompany their Demonstration Team at the Chicago Air and Water Show on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16. (U.S. Army photo by Mr. Anthony L. Taylor/Released)
