A drill instructor of Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, advises a recruit on how to execute a counter choke during a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program session at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Nov. 30. Recruits were instructed to partner up with the recruit next to them and take turns executing each technique. Earning a tan belt comes after recruits complete the basic stage of MCMAP in recruit training. Marines have the opportunity to obtain higher levels in their Marine Corps careers. Today, all males recruited west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Fox Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 29.
