Gunnery Sgt. Brandon J. Zettlemoyer, drill instructor, India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, finds carbon on a recruit’s rifle during a series commander inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 8. Recruits are given a significant amount of time to clean their rifles every day to keep them clean at all times. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruit from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. India Company is scheduled to graduate March 11.
