PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 2, 2016) Lt. Josh Sherwin, a Navy chaplain, blows a shofar, a hollowed-out ram's horn, as a tradition to raise noise for the Rosh Hashanah ceremony aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). Rosh Hashanah is a two-day celebration of the Jewish New Year that provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year and look ahead in the New Year. Sherwin, one of ten rabbis in the Navy, visited John C. Stennis at sea to provide religious services for the crew during the High Holy Days. John C. Stennis is underway conducting proficiency and sustainment training. (U.S. Navy photo by Seaman Oscar Quezada/Released)
