Unexploded ordinance (UXO) is revealed inside an ammo can during a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) mitigation exercise January 18, 2017, at a military base near Amman, Jordan. The ammo can was in a vehicle that was stopped at a checkpoint. The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) soldiers manning the checkpoint reacted to the possible UXO by calling in explosive ordinance disposal technicians and CBRN specialists in order to eliminate the potential threat. JAF demonstrated its ability to detect an unexploded hazard, preform a security cordon in the area, identify and remove possible chemical hazards and decontaminate exposed personnel. U.S. Soldiers and Marines from across southwest Asia took part in the exercise learning from their Jordanian counterparts and sharing some of their own best practices and techniques.
