170829-N-UX013-306 APRA HARBOR, Guam (Aug. 29, 2017) Sailors and Marines assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) load a seven-ton truck onto Landing Craft Utility 1651, assigned to Naval Beach Unit 7, during a stern-gate marriage on the ship’s well deck to move Marines and equipment of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) ashore for training. Ashland is in Guam for a scheduled voyage repair availability (VRAV) while Marines of the 31st MEU will conduct unit-level training ashore. Ashland and the 31st MEU are operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
