U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Ryan Lewis, a loadmaster with the 41st Airlift Squadron, 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock Air Force Base, carefully guides the driver of a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System of Colorado Army National Guard’s 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery, onto his C-130 Aircraft at the Colorado Springs, Colo., airport and transporting it to Fort Carson, Sept. 20, 2017.
In support of exercise War Horse Strike, this joint mission between 3-157th FA and the 19th Airlift Wing, 41st Airlift Squadron, from Little Rock Air Force Base, not only helped meet the battalion’s requirement to airlift their HIMARS and conduct “hot panel” training in field conditions, but gave the C-130 crew experience with this type of cargo under flying conditions similar to those in Afghanistan while operating out of unimproved runway surfaces.
