With engines still running on the C-130 Hercules aircraft from the 41st Airlift Squadron, 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock Air Force Base, Little Rock, Ark., Colorado Army National Guard Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery, out of Colorado Springs, Colo., adjust the suspension on their High Mobility Artillery Rocket System after it is unloaded from the aircraft at Camp Red Devil, Fort Carson, Colo., Sept. 20, 2017.
In support of exercise War Horse Strike, this joint mission between 3-157th FA and the 19th Airlift Wing, 41st Airlift Squadron, from Little Rock Air Force Base, not only helped meet the battalion’s requirement to airlift their HIMARS and conduct “hot panel” training in field conditions, but gave the C-130 crew experience with this type of cargo under flying conditions similar to those in Afghanistan while operating out of unimproved runway surfaces.
