FAJARDO, Puerto Rico, Jan.30, 2018 - Workers lift pieces of a vessel to be removed from the barge and take them to the nearest collection center. As of today, over 300 vessels have been removed from the coasts for the purpose of removing toxic materials from the water. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), has the mission of identifying and properly disposing of vessels and their hazardous waste and electronics during the recovery process following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
