Australian army Lt. Colin Soane and Gunner Travis Stewart, both with 8/12 Regiment, coordinate fire support as U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jeff Riley from Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, looks on during the combined joint live fire exercise on Townshend Island during Talisman Sabre 2011. The combined joint live fire exercise held on Townshend Island in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area provided both Australian and U.S. JTAC's the opportunity to guide fire support from U.S. FA-18 and Australian FA-18 Super Hornets, Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters and Australian and U.S. ships. Talisman Sabre 2011 is a U.S.-led, Australian-supported bilateral exercise aimed at training U.S. and Australian forces in planning and conducting combined operations and improving U.S.-Australian interoperability.
