U.S. Air Force Maj. J.P. King a pilot with the 156th Airlift Squadron of the 145th Airlift Wing, co-pilots a C-17 Globemaster III prior to take off for the very first C-17 mission from the Charlotte Air National Guard to Pope Army Airfield, while at the North Carolina Air National Guard Base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, August 1, 2018. The mission to Pope Field is the first of what is hoped to be many, by October the 145th Airlift Wing plans to begin supporting Airdrop missions with weekly flights to Pope Field, picking up Soldiers and Cargo for regular Airborne operations.
