North Carolina Army National Guard Soldiers sit aboard a 145th Airlift Wing C-17 Globemaster III Aircraft during flight, while on the very first C-17 mission for the 145th Airlift Wing to Pope Army Airfield, in the skies above North Carolina, August 1, 2018. The mission to Pope Field is the first of what is hoped to be many for the 145th Airlift Wing, by October the unit plans to begin supporting Airdrop missions with weekly flights to Pope Field, picking up Soldiers and Cargo for regular Airborne operations. The soldiers on this trip are being transported to Fort Bliss Texas for annual training.
