U.S. Army Capt. John Zimmermann, who works in Security Partnering, Future Operations with ISAF Joint Command, pounds through the first lap of 20 at the start of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon satellite in Kabul, Afghanistan, Oct. 7. Zimmermann, the race organizer and Apple Valley, Minn., and a 10-time veteran of the Chicago Marathon, joined more than 120 soldiers, airmen, sailors, Marines and civilians from numerous coalition nations who showed up for the early morning start of the marathon, which raised more than $12,000 for the St. Jude Research Hospital.
