U.S. Army Sgt. Christopher Tunis, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla. and assigned to Company A, 172nd Support Battalion, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Task Force Blackhawk, readies himself as a Chinook helicopter hovers overhead getting into a safe position to pick up the prepared sling load Oct. 5, at Forward Operating Base Sharana. A crew member leans out the side of the aircraft to act as another set of eyes to help guide the Chinook safely into position. Accidents are avoided by using proper safety equipment, constant communication and exhaustive training.
